The Dawn

The Dawn

Awakening of the day
Uplifting the soul
Rosy rays of sunlight
Obscuring the darkness
Ruddy skies proclaiming
All hail the dawn of a new day

The Addiction

The Addiction
It’s insidious
It creeps in gradually
Like a burglar
It steals your ambition
It all starts with an innocuous
“Wanna try it”
Then it’s let’s try again
And again
And again
Soon it’s a habit
A fun habit, kinda
Now after 40 years
It’s a bummer
It dulls the mind
Makes me lethargic
It’s not enjoyable anymore
Yet my mind
Craves it
My body aches
Without it
Yet life seems better
Depriving myself of it
I can run better
Write better
Am more alert

So I have concluded
No matter how you
Look at the situation
I am an addict

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday
To my friend
Who’s half a world away
Miss Bekkie transcends
The distance between us
Her joy and love of life
Causes no fuss
And is rife
With caring and tenderness
Towards her pals
No matter their locales

So here’s wishing
All the best
To my friend
Miss Bekkie

May God keep you
In the palm of his hand,
Bless you and keep you safe.

Have a great day ☺☺

Mothers

Mother’s
Matrons, so dignified and sober
Orderlies, when injury occurs to a child
Therapists, a counselor when needed
Helpers, always willing to lend a hand
Educators, teaching children to live and grow
Rescuers, whenever pets or kids need saving
Saintly, as all mothers are

These are a mother’s lot
To serve and protect everyone she’s got
In her family
And she does it uncannily

A mother’s love
Goes far and above
Normal emotion
Showing her singular devotion

So on this day for mothers
Let us not think of any others
Except for our moms
And sing psalms
Of praise to spark
Glory and fame for our Matriarch

My Last Stand

My Last Stand
Snorting and running
I am free
Yet still caged
I run anyway

Suddenly pinpricks
Points of pain and agony
More pinpricks

I see red
Stopping and pawing the ground
I charge

The red swooshes
Aside
More pain and agony

Deeper more hurtful
Than before
The stabbing makes
Me angry

My vision is blurred
With anger
And hurt

I charge again
More pain
Deeper this time

I feel my life blood
Draining from my body
I keel over
And breathe
My last breath
